On Saturday night, I had dinner with the girls to celebrate a second engagement amongst our group. We have two weddings happening this year, and a third engagement likely in the midst. Soon enough, everyone will be married off with kids or resigned to the life of a spinster, sharing a double bed with 35 cats. When either fate befalls us, I'm not sure what the odds will be for regular girls' nights out, so we should probably make the most of it while we can.
With the drinks flowing and alarming amounts of food being consumed, the conversation took on a reminiscent tone. We laughed as we took it in turns to retell stories of our previous embarrassing indiscretions on our holidays and nights out together. Some of us have been friends since primary school, some since college and others since graduating from university. Being with my own friends made me begin cataloguing some of my favourite books about friendship. Here's the list I conjured up.
The Pact by Jodi Picoult
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Divergent by Veronica Roth
The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
The Body, a novella published in Different Seasons
by Stephen King
by Stephen King
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince by J. K. Rowling
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling
If you're searching for your next read, there are plenty of books there to choose from. But that's just my list of some of the best friendship-themed books. What are your favourite books about friendship?
Looking forward to a night out with the girls tomorrow. It's been a while since we all got together. #engagementdrinks
